Well I disagree with some of the sentiments in here.

I still doubt having a device that plays android games is somehow going to magically making NX a better selling product. the ppl playing these games are playing them on their phones already in a capacity that is far more convenient for them.

yes, Nintendo has their own IPs. But what does that even mean? They had their IP's when N64 showcased a decline for their brand image. They had them for GC, they had them for the WiiU and even for the declining 3DS.

The fact that the incredible selling Wii and DS have had little dividends on the WiiU and 3DS is evidence enough that casuals dont gravitate towards the Nintendo brand. They gravitate towards a type of hardware type that seems novel.

by the time the NX actually arrives, the PS4 and X1 would have been more ingrained into popular culture, and therefore into casual culture. The truth of the matter is that the longer it takes for NX to come, the less relevant it is going to be.

Android games on the NX is not the solution to Nintendo's problems when it comes to both developer and consumer support.

I agree that ventures with Universal and Disney will most likely help their cause: but those ventures are what will help, not android gaming coupled with their own brand. Because their own brand is no nearly as popular as everyone believes to be.

Can NX be successful? Sure it can, but I really do not think a smartphone playng console has that much appeal. Maybe I am wrong though.

It's not simply android games that he's implying will cause NX to sell well. He also mentions to unification of the console & handheld side of Nintendo so that all or most games will be playable on either device. Wii U is a $300 device that only has less than half of the Nintendo games released this generation and very little 3rd party support, in the OP's proposal NX will be a $200 console with 100% of Nintendo's support and solid 3rd party support, that makes it a far more compelling purchase than Wii U.
