Why bother greenlighting it in the first place?
Get Sakamoto to make a 2D Metroid game, I'm sure he can still do that well. He's just not good with 3D games or cinematic story telling. Story wise he should follow the formula of Fusion (inner dialogues during elevator rides and conversations with computer Adam, NOT Metroid: Other M Adam).
