They foresaw it, Reggie said that "we" (Nintendo) knew people wouldn't take the game with open arms, but we are releasing the game anyway.

Nintendo fans just need to wait for the next Nintendo Direct when Nintendo will explain why fans are wrong by not liking the game and explain to fans how much they want this Metroid.

I think there's a legitimate possibility he's speaking for Nintendo of America...

Perhaps he really is speaking for Nintendo as a whole, or perhaps it's all just damage control...

Whatever the case may really be, I can find solace in the fact that they acknowledge the demand for Metroid/Samus...
