No way. The story is much shorter, the music is bad and bad parts of Xenoblade like hundreds of boring and simple fetch quests have been increased to 300 hours of game play.
In Xenoblade you could ignore the side quests and still had 90 hours of story and AAA gameplay and a real JRPG soundtrack. In Xenoblade X the good parts were taken away (music) or reduced (story) and the bad parts (badly designed sidequests) were heavily increased.
