Yep I agree, hence the bolded. But that sentence had less to do with OP and more to do with a branching topic so I buried it a little in relevant information

Your preventive measures really needs the cooperation of the enviroment issues around the subject too. You can tell a kid all day this is wrong etc. But if they're getting beaten. Or live in a place that has guns go off every night. And or get infulenced up the ass. It's really not gonna work. Then you run into the issue of "Get the fuck away from me and stop bothereing me about BS I don't care about." response. You can have classes and such on these things. How many people are willing to go to them. You can't force people. I rather just end the person. If they went out and killed 50 people on purpose. No side is perfect. Both ways will have people fall through cracks. Or abused rules.

Yo0u'd rather end the person, but I would much rather change the person at an impressionable age so that they may be able to avoid those caustic environments. In a perfect world, this is what I would love to see:

  • More money put into the social service system (foster care etc) so that at-risk youth may be more likely to follow a better path and not fall through the cracks, or perhaps be in a better position to be steered away from such environments. A lot of these youth are actually asking for help but they just can't get it, so they resort to criminal behavior to either be heard or get by in life. They find protection, sustainablity, and brotherhood in crime because the social service system fails hugely at providing it to them.
  • More money put into education. Education is the most powerful tool in this world. I see your point about people not being willing to go to them; I say make it mandatory. You know how shitty D.A.R.E. education is? It's terrible. There needs to be a reform in the public education system that makes education about these topics much better and mandatory.
  • A restorative justice system for young offenders. The young ones are still impressionable, and I think the best method runs by showing them the consequences of their actions, making them understand what they did, and putting them to work fixing that wrongdoing.
  • If all this comes together, you will have less people that you would rather just end.

My 200000 cents anyhow
