Firstly,splatoon numbers are sold through,Nintendo has given a breakdown of the sales and Japan's are the same with Media create numbers+digital,and  I'm sad but not surprised,that you are asking him why he splitted the sales,he does it because splatoon is exclusive...

When you want to compare a game of one platform vs a game which is multiplatform,you are doing it by using the best selling version of the multiplatform,otherwise is unfair for the exclusive or downplaying!

So, it's unfair to the exclusive but not unfair to the game whose sale is split on multiple platforms? Or do you think that people only own 1 console?

And source for sold-through?
