i think if SONY pumps in money then surely they will own atleast SHENMUE 3 as a game period like they do with METAL GEAR SOLID1,FINAL FANTASY 7,etc

SONY doesn't outright own them as they are properties of KONAMI,SQUARE ENIX and SEGA but had some funding or exclusivity deal,they have rights to it or own a part of it

 

its not anything like timed exclusivity deals

pretty sure you're mistaken in terms of any actual ownership leaving the hands of the IP's owner. I'm almost certain, regardless of developmental costs, the company with the property rights (like Sega and Shenmue) will have all control over future re-releases of say, Shenmue 3, or potentially anything else to do with the series

i never said ownership of ip left owners hand.

obviously,the deal for 1 game exclusive will not be for entire franchise

 

but if a console maker has funded the game not just loaned money then most of the time,they don't let go of that exclusivty for atleast that numbered game.
