Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aimé stated that they didn’t want to show “wonderful footage” of The Legend of Zelda Wii U at the Nintendo’s E3 Digital Event.

Fils-Aime revealed that Nintendo did indeed have “wonderful footage” of The Legend of Zelda Wii U that they originally planned on showcasing at the Digital Event, but scrapped it at the last second because they didn’t want to disappoint fans because of the recent delay.

“We where concerned that, by showing wonderful footage of the game, it would lead to further disappointment on behalf of the fans,” said Fils Aime in an interview with GameSpot. “So, that was the judgement call that we made.”

“There will be plenty of other opportunities for us to showcase that game,” he continued, “and certainly for those us that have seen that game–like me–and have seen how the game progressing; no fears, it’s going to be wonderful.”

The Legend of Zelda Wii U is expected to hit sometime in 2016.
