I think the answer to that, which Nintendo won't admit, is that beside Nintendo EAD, they don't know how to do HD era level quality and the team they hired to help Platinum Games most likely rushed it with them. 

I personally think it's taken a budget cut after Mario Kart 8 and all these games being announced last year didn't set Wii U sales trucking properly. I don't blame them mind. I'll probably still get the game, always liked the proper Star Fox games and it'll still be fun if they nail the combat.
