NX platform misunderstanding.

Reggie refered to it as a console: "Our next console, NX, which we'll be talking about in 2016"

And Kensuke Tanabe pretty much confirmed that it is a home console: "If we started [Metroid Prime 4] for Wii U now, it would likely take three years or so. So it would likely now be on Nintendo's NX console," he said.

That Reggie quote sounds patched together and totally out of context. If Reggie had blatantly confirmed the NX to be a console successor, don't you think just about the entire internet would have been all over it saying "omg Wii U successor confirmed rip in peace Wii U"? Even if he had legitimately said it was a console, people would automatically assume it was the successor and we'd have the same types of posts. And I'm reasonably certain (read: entirely) that Kensuke Tanabe has no idea what the NX actually is seeing as I'm certain Nintendo would skewer anybody who even mistakenly released any information regarding officially unannounced anything. All because he is a sort of active Nintendo developer doesn't mean he is completely in the know about higher level things going on.
