I still haven't seen a review of the new R9 390, sorry. The 390X has been reviewed by many sites already like Guru3D, Overclock3D or Tom's Hardware. But I would bet that the performance will only be a tinny bit better than the original 290, making it a bit closer to Nvidia's 970. It's better to go for a cheaper 290 while they last and overclock it a little to get the same results (minus the extra 4GB of VRAM). |
Read a bunch of reviews. Basically, the 8GB 390 performs below the GTX 980 on several points and way below the 980Ti. So I'm more or less decided on going for a 980Ti now, it blows everything else besides the Titan X and 295X out of the water and the premium is easily matched by the performance. It also OC's very well according to all sources.
Now I just have to choose a 3rd party cooler/OC version. Thinking of EVGA or Asus, leaning more towards Asus for now. Will probably decide sometime in the coming week, I hardly think that Nvidia will be in a hurry to cut the price of the 980Ti since there really is no need with the 390 being so far behind on performance (but still priced rather high here).
