- The hidden arms race. The fact that all these high-powers, despite acting peaceful towards one another, probably spy on each other and develop/research high-tech weapons behind the scenes.

yeah I agree, but that's the government and the press in general! not just US. I'm from Europe, it's the same crap there.

True; I can't imagine living in Russia under Putin. It must suck. And they're a second world country; I can't imagine living under a third-world dictator.
But in the first world, the Gov't is just a tad more sneaky aout it
