I truly hate how arrogant Nintendo has become. From Reggie saying VR is unfun and anti-social while ignoring the wii u gamepad, to Iwata saying he knows they messed up e3 but will only try to make the next one better, to Miyamoto claiming he knows absolutely why the wii u failed.
The gamepad did have potential regardless of how other tablets worked. But when Ubisoft is the only developer making gamepad centric games (Zombiu and rayman legends), you start to wonder if Nintendo was even interested in the gamepad, and was just hoping to create another cash cow fad.
The reason the wii u failed is because it is simply a cash grab at what the wii was. There was absolutely no ambition gameplay-wise like the wii or development-wise like the ps4. It is so obvious that they were trying to make another 'wii fad' that they couldn't even make a proper name for the console. The ps4 on the other hand, was ambitiously made for developers to have all the tools they needed to make to make amzing games in short times. It's really telling when guerilla games is making 2 AAA ps4 titles in the time it takes monolift soft to make 1 semi decent open world wii u game.
