As a (if I recall correctly) day 1 buyer for Wii U and (for sure) for 3ds (you know, back when it was $250 for the standard model...), I would be delighted with the NX coming out next year. I wouldn't feel alienated. We've had some pretty great games on Wii U, it's not like they are pulling a Sega here and abandoning the console before it can make a name for itself, and even if it did I'm fine with that because I'm a true Nintendo gamer and that means I want Nintendo to do whatever it has to in order to survive and keep making its charming games. |
I ama day 1 Wii U buyer (for my then 7 yr old Son s b day). If a Wii U owner loves platformers I can see how they may be moderatly pleased w the Wi U library- but for the rest of us The libray is not very diverse or deep- It is clear to me Nintendo s effort toward the Wii U was weak from the atart and never ramped up to help itself or its customers
Burning many of thier most loyal customers may or may not help them in the short term business wise butt it is a terrible longer term decsion- Nintendo has lost tons of market share and qute a lot of money over the last several years and treating their customers poorply is not going to help turn that around
They are going to have a hard time launching the NX obvioulsy they will sacrifice delivery dates and games for the Wii u in order to launch the NX but IMO there will be many people like me that will not buy their next console at or close to launch if it all - Outside of their loyal base (about the number of Wii U consoles sold to date) Nintendo is just not that relevant to the consumer as they once were- Not getting Minecraft on any of their consoles wis going to haunt them in the future -
