This is what worries me a little bit.

So they are trying "something new" again? Oh my.. just do what Sony do: nothing. PS4 is "just" a stronger PS1 and that's OK because that's what gamers want.

Doing the same stuff that Sony does won't put them back on top. Just because you imitate someone doesn't mean you will get the same results as them.
"Something new" is good and I hope they embrace it.

Only if what you have is bad.
Once you find something good, that works and consumers want... you stick to it, improve on it, and make it become associated with you.
Nintendo found the "good" with their wii nunchucks... wii sold like hotcakes.
Instead of makeing a new and better wii (wii 2), they just changed everything for no reason.
