Yeah, the 3DS should be fine imo. It's about to catch on fire in Japan with the recently released Rhythm Heaven, then Fire Emblem, then a plethora of Yo-Kai Watch and Monster Hunter games along with Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer.
As for the west, Tri Force Heroes, Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon and Yo-Kai Watch should be enough for a fairly stable holiday period. I think they're doing the cross media stuff for YW like they did in Japan, which is the tactic they originally used for Pokemon back in the day (and still do) so I feel it will at least do decently. The question is if it will move hardware.
