Its just a 15 dollar dlc for every game with almost no content. 

next thing you know you will act as if you don't 'get' why people buy toys, action figures, dolls, statues- things that have no practical use. people aren't buying Amiibos for the games, they are simply buying them to collect or display. its that simple really

And Nintendo is not selling as figurines, they are selling as DLC disguised as figurines.
