Well they´re already developing the NX and they have 9+ exclusives coming out THIS year aswell as Zelda, SMT X FE et cetera next year. They pump out games and are working on the successor of the Wii U and probably let it(The Wii U) have a shorter lifecycle than the Wii because it didn´t do so well. What´s the issue again?
