Just saw the Treehouse playing the newly announced Mario & Luigi Paper Jam and well, it plays like a Mario & Luigi game. The Paper Mario bit seems to mostly be aesthetic, just serving as an excuse for a third party member and new special moves. The level'ing, stat system, and combat are all straight from the Mario & Luigi series. The game takes place in their world too as it's not made of paper. It seems some thing have been carried over from Paper Mario though, but that's actually unfortunate, because the specific Paper Mario they're drawing from is Sticker Star. All the paper Toads were exactly the same, and all the enemies were generic/in their base form. That is not a good sign at all. I was excited when I first saw it, but now I'm skeptical. I mean it being a Mario & Luigi game is fine of course, but if you like Paper Mario and don't like Mario & Luigi, then I definitely would not get this game. I personally like both series, so I only need to just how much the garbage that is Sticker Star has influenced the game before purchasing.
