Yes, a lot of people who were watching the show never played Shenmue. But every gamer at heard about the "myth".

I'm not a religious person, but if i saw jesus on the street, i would call it a miracle. Shenmue 3 is a miracle. Also best marketing for a kickstarter campaign EVER.

Why wasn't it backed completely by Sony? (Is it too risky?) I think people are expecting some sort of GTA style game from this. Once it had the biggest budget out there and now... -> kickstarter (I really doubt something huge will ever come out of kickstarter campaigns).

It's a may be a way to verify there is demand but I guess giving it a spot in the E3 conference means they already know it will be successful.

Most likely it's about creating a lot more hype than there is already, and making sure a handful of people stayh hyped and hype others during what will probably be a long developpment (kickstarter funders will get involved, thus stay hyped).
