The Xbox - Oculus Partnership seems like nothing but PR stunt.

You're lacking common sense at the moment.

If MS gets involved with VR tech after Morpheus does well, they will be late to the party. Especilly if its just a fad.

Sony has flatout stole ideas from its competitors because... you know. So lets just move on maybe.

Perhaps MS are backing Oculus because they are already late to the party? Sony's been working on VR for a number of years now, it's not like they have rushed it to market. They already had a streaming/movie headset that you could buy (though at a stupidly high price) for a number of years.

I dont think MS were convinced by VR when Oculus was just Oculus doing VR... then Sony start showing their device coming along and now Valve get involved, so now they look late to the party and with Steam being a major PC competitor they had to jump in. Rather than spend big on R&D and all the work that entails, backing Oculus (now it's supported by the cash of facebook) is a sensible move, but to me they are already late to the party. 

Time will tell if they are prepared to put proper resources into this or its just a weak link of support (let's be honest here, streaming a game to a VR headset is not the point of VR).
