Because you can't consider the Oculus in the "XBox One ecosystem" and you can't fight against the PS4/Morpheus without that. And there are already concerns about the PS4 being "not powerful enough" to use Morpheus, so the One and Oculus seems unlikely.... |
As far as i understood it, the Morpheus has it's own chips to power it (and the extra background chip in the PS4 for background tasks), so I think within reason it will be fine. The problem for the XboxOne is that the Oculus doenst have it's own chips does it? It uses PC processing power which is why it needs a powerful PC to run it, so I dont think its feasible for it to run on the XBO. It may be they have only just signed a partnership so the easiest thing to do was do a streaming demo, but I'm not convinced it will work on XBO at all.
As for crushing the Morpheus, actually even though I am excited by the prospect of VR, I dont think any of them are going to sell enough units.. I just dont see them selling millions of devices that they will need to have games made specifically for them. I hope i am wrong, but just dont see the market being there, but Sony is in the best position because their user base is protected, while there are two competitors for the PC space and Valve has a better chance of getting to the hardcore PC users more than facebook/oculus.
