I really don't get the hate for this game. Yes, they are unlocking stuff that was already on the disc. So what? They've been pretty upfront about it. My personal experience so far has been one of discovery: There's a new map every week, new weapons and soon new modes and features (which certainly are not on the disc - why would they lock away friend lobbies if it was already there?). There'll be Splatfests soon. The game has lots of gear that can be customized and is highly motivating.
And just for the record: If EA or Activision unlocked free on-disc maps or weapons after a game's release I wouldn't bitch about it, either. It's totally fine, as long as we don't have to pay for any of it. And it's not like they spread the content thin, there are constant updates and improvements. The game is already great the way it is and it was only €39.99 in Europe, by the way. If you don't own the game, stop telling people they are not supposed to like the way new content is being released. It's free. It's already on disc, but it's free.
Strangely enough, I don't see people (who don't own the game) complain about Smash Bros dlc which is quite expensive in my opinion. I have the strange feeling some (!) people just don't like the game being a success.
