"They keep giving us better and better IP to work with." -- Jason Carr, co-founder of NLG & director of Punch-Out!! Wii, January 2014

It's a stretch but I've always interpreted that as a small hint that their next game is an established Nintendo IP that they haven't worked on yet -- so not Punch-Out!!, Luigi's Mansion, or a Mario sports spin-off.

As Luigi's Mansion released over 2 years ago, I certainly think we could be seeing their next game in a few days. However, Nintendo likes to focus on the Wii U during E3, and the 3DS tends to get less attention, so if they're working on a 3DS games it could skip E3 in favor of a Nintendo Direct later this year.

Wasn't there also a comment from another NLG developer saying the game he's working on now makes him wish he had a Wii U? That would imply the game is for Wii U.
