I think yes, but only a little.
The only console I have ever bought day one was the Gamecube, because it was released at a perfect price (200€ here in Europe) Otherwise I always wait for a price cut until it gets to that price approximately.
I had considered getting a Wii U, but both the lack of interesting third party games (I'm not a huge Nintendo fan) and no price cut means no sale for me.
