Lol when my son was 8 Metroid Prime would have given him nightmares. You ignored my question about having played Splatoon. You may well ignore this one too: Do you have children? I see you are 42, if you did have children would you have let them watch Nightmare on Elm Street when they were 8? What about a Porno? Some things are apporpriate at different ages and for different people. That is why we have a rating system. It is why most of the world has rating systems for various media. I ignored it initially but I will not any longer, telling someone how to raise their chidren or what they should expose their children to is not very classy. Double so when you don't even know the child. Notice neither of us said anything like NO Children should play COD before they are teens. We were talking about our children. If you haven't even played the game itself you have not even a leg to stand on when it comes to what a child should play, or if it is even a good introduction to the genere. |
Woah, please keep in mind that I am not forcing anyone to play anything. I am simply offering suggestions on other fps games that are made with everyone in mind, mostly to counter the claim earlier that splatoon was the first of its kind to do this.
I have not played splatoon. That said, I do not need to have played it to make reasonable assumptions, that is the whole point of reviews and ratings.
Letting a child watch Nightmare on Elm Street would be like letting them play COD. I am not fine with that.
Letting a child watch The Avengers would be like letting them play portal 2. That I am fine with.
And no, I am not a parent, but I am a college student with a 13 year old brother and an 8 year old brother. The rating system is also not perfect. I would put halo (assuming there is no cussing in the dialogue) as rated T (it shares many similarities to destiny which is rated T). I would also put Majora's Mask as rated T (I find that just as dark and scary as metroid prime). I have let my 8 year old brother play pikmin 3 (E10), Wonderful 101 (T), super smash bros brawl (T), and I could most definitely let him play portal 2 (E10)
Again, I am not saying splatoon is a bad "intro to fps game," I am arguing about the claim that it is the first game in the fps genre to be made with everyone in mind (shown higher up) given the other games I mentioned that are fps and rated T and below
