I disregard his opinion mostly because it pretty clear that he dislikes exactly what the original Xenoblade was, because that is essentially what he's described. I loved the original Xenoblade, I loved the 3DS port, and if this is like those games I will love that as well. As I suspect will the majority of the gaming press when this game is released.
I do not think Kotaku is being unreasonably harsh or anything. If he doesn't like that kind of game, he doesn't like it. It just doesn't really apply to me.
