ps4 at $399 = right price but Wii U at $299 = priced too high. I wonder what causes so much stupidity like this. |
Right! Are you able to look into an argument more complex than you have.
Nintendo has great franchises and $300/$350 for the consoles wasn't much of an issue for Nitendo fans but I honestly think if it launched a year later with the same specs and price, it would of done better (strange I know). It would of been compared to the PS4 and X1 and although less powerful it still would of been $100 cheaper than the competition.
But instead the time of release it was compared to the PS3 and 360 rather than the PS4 and Xbox "720", and gamers had a different mindset on the Wii U. The problem with the Wii U is that it wasn't much more powerful than the PS3 and 360 and yet cost $100 more. People didn't see the value.
It's a strange one. Releasing early can pay off (see Xbox 360), but if you going to kick off a gen you have to show a significant leap otherwise you will just be compared to current rather seen as next gen. If you going to release a fairly weak console, do not launch first and release with the next gen (see Wii).
