One electron pushes another electron to produce electricity. The use of a certain type of energy can convert into another type. Such as wind into electricity, water into electricity and in this case, electricity into heat. Therefore you need to use energy to create energy. We are also not creating power here through the use of electricity, we are simply dissipating that power used into heat energy. So in the end, the newer designs will create less energy. You still need to get power through electricity to create that energy, by plugging your PS4 in, it's not free. 
Electricity is silly like that.
Of course you already knew that and was just trying to be funny, but this was probably the only chance I would have ever had to explain electricity and how it's created.
