I agree with this
a lot of people around here act as if Nintendo has some sort of god like power and can create unlimited types of games and constantly take risks with new genres. they push out by far the most games of any first party developer, simply because they have to obviously, as it is and I don't think it's realistic to expect them to have THAT much of a bigger output in terms of games in new categories
they're not going to abandon their known cash makers like Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Animal Crossing, Pokemon, etc. those take a lot of resources. They do try things now and then, obviously with the Wii it took a bit of effort to focus on all of those 'at home' style games, i.e. Wii Fit, Wii Sports, Wii Active, etc. now that's probably not the 'different genre' sort of idea a lot of people would want, but it was SOMETHING
also bear in mind that Nintendo basically single handedly pushes the success (or not so much success if we're talking the Wii U) or both their home console AND handheld. certainly it would be easier to try and jump more into the adult gaming market if they weren't already kind of squeezed in terms of production
which is why if the NX is really a unified platform between handheld and home gaming I think they'll definitely branch out into a lot of new games. won't have to work so hard on the number of software
note: Nintendo is also known for their quality, and it can take forever for them to perfect some of their games. this is obviously why we probably don't see them find the time/effort to break out into new categories as often. if you're spending 5 years finishing/perfecting a game that's already late then its kind of tough to think 'omg lets go make an adult RPG/shooting game'
