I actually feel the opposite. At first I saw it as it deviating from the books, but now I see it more as its own thing, because it's gone so far from the books that it might as well be.
And because of that, I get surprised by things, and I think they're doing it rather well for the most part. For example, I love the interaction between Daenerys and Tyreon. And the fight against the Whitewalkers last episode was awesome. Great choreography, and confirmation that Valyrian Steel works like Dragonglass.

Overall I find it mostly positive. But that's not to say it hasn't disappointed me as well.
For example, I wanted to see Catlyn Stark (Stonehart), but I doubt that's gonna happen now.

And it's sad that we missed the whole story with Tyreon and the other Targeryan and the slave camp. Some really good scenes in there. "A Lanister always repays his debts."
The chapters with Brienne with Nimble Dick and Stoneheart were also interesting I though, but looks liek the TV series is skipping that as well.
And we're probably not going to see Davos going off to search for Bran either, sadly.

I also don't like how Stannis sacrificed his daughter in this latest episode. I felt like he started to become a bit more compassionate with his interactions with Jon. (Sending her the fake Arya as a gift as thanks for his warning of the Karlstark betrayer.)

As for how the TV series will end, I have a feeling it will be similar to the books, which is why I hope we have more than just one season left, or maybe it won't be worth watching it and risk spoiling the book ending.

The next episode is titled "Mother's Mercy" so there still may be a chance for her to appear. Although, it could just be about Dany and her dragons..
