One thought that just came to mind:

Since the 360 version does more streaming from DVD than the PS3 one (presume the PS3 still needs the disc, not like the entire game is pre-installed... is it?) - performance on "some" 360 units will be terrible.

Drives have a tendency for their seek/load times to degrade over time (or when the lens/heads gets dirty, etc). So on newer or test units the game would run great - but on 360 units with dirty heads, the seek/load times will be significantly increased - leading to lots of wacky pop-in issues (to the point where on some units, the game will be almost unplayable).

This will happen to PS3 units as well (esp. with their CAV drives, and lower streaming rates) - but its more likely to happen to 360 units I would guess.

I'll give it 24-48 hours before hundreds (if not thousands) of reports of "flakey" GTA4 performance hits the web. That's heavy streaming games for you anyway...

(edit - same basic issue as those Wii units had that can't read Brawl or MK properly)
