Sorry, but that is a bs statement and a bad analogy. Voice chat is not limited to genres and does not detract from a game but rather adds to it (similar to good menus, video game lobbies, and online play).

It's a perfect analogy and one that you obviously missed the first time I said it. This game is for kids first, adults and everyone else second. I am a parent of a 9 year old girl and as a parent, the worst thing that could be in this game is voice chat. I do NOT need 30 year old pedos calling my daughter a little slut, whore, bitch etc. Even if voice chat were in the game and you could mute it, that would mean she could unmute it. Not having it as an option means when she's playing, I don't have to sit next to her 24/7 like a hawk and worry about keeping her safe. From her perspective, she also doesn't have to feel like she is being babied by BEING watched 24/7.

Nintendo thinks about parental concerns first, and that's exactly why there is no voice chat. As a parent, I appreciate that and will continue to buy their products. If you don't like that, COD, Battlefield and Halo are all out there for you to enjoy.

I read your analogy, and it sucks.

So you missed it a third time. Alright, I'll break it down for you so you can understand.

Mario Kart is a racing game designed for people who know nothing about racing. Because of this, they simplified the experience so all you do is pick car, race.

Splatoon is a FPS designed for kids. Because of this, they removed voice chat so they don't get harassed online.

When developing a game, you must first think about the target demograph. In this game, it's children. When you're developing a game for children, the most important thing that needs to happen is to take into consideration how safe your game is and how parents will perceive your game. If parents don't approve, guess what happens? You don't sell many copies. Voice chat is a feature that parents like myself (I.E. parents who actually CARE about what their child is playing) don't want. They know this... and that's why it's not in the game.

If you can't understand this simple, basic concept, then there's nothing left discuss.

Hey, lets also remove online play so kids dont gang up on another kid, and hey, lets not add quotes in mario kart because people will spam them and make others feel bad, or hey lets remove thunderclouds in this game because they are scary!

I get what you are trying to say, but see how pretty much any feature can be removed using this argument. What is wrong with having a mute option on default? are you afraid your daughter will repeatedly turn it on for strangers only to have others make her cry? What is wrong with adding extra parental controls in the game? Why do you have to flat out remove a feature that many enjoy and not work around the issues like many other developers do?
