Yeah, going to have to agree with voice acting. Always bad, no matter the language. The dialogue and story are usually very stupid. Never been a fan of turn based attacks/being hit with an attack no matter what. Never been a fan of level level/skill restrictions either which is why Elderscrolls/Fallout(pre ESO..) are imo the best RPGS ever made. I don't think they have too many party members. If anything I hate the fact you can never use all the party members at the same time which many RPGS suffer from including elderscrolls and fallout, unless of course you use an exploit or mod. I think the interaction with party members as well as other NPCS is usually empty and just terrible. Also character design is always just awful. Characters usually have terrible hair, over-sexed, and just over all bad design. Always feel unrealistic, plastic, if not just entirely too cartoony.
The only time I really enjoyed an RPG from japanese developers is when they make WRPGS like Dragon's dogma, bloodborn, demon/dark souls.
