If I'm not mistaken MK was selling around 4/5k a week for quite some time and now it more than doubled to 11/12k. So a lot of those 17k who bought WiiUs for Splatoon also bought Mario Kart, which means some people were waiting for Splatoon to get a WiiU along with other games such as MK.

Splatoon system seller confimed!

On a more serious tone, Mario Kart just broke 1 million after 1 year ont the market. That's great for a home console over there. Also great Withcr 3 second week sales. It desserves good sales.

You're forgetting that there's a Wii U Mario Kart 8 bundle . That's why when hardware increases the game too.

I ain't denying that, but that doesn't deny my reasoning that some people (not many) were waiting on Splatoon to come out to buy a WiiU and also got MK8. If a game is being frequently sold at a 4k/week ratio and when a new game comes out the old game sells 12k (with no other new major factors like, let's say, a price cut on MK8), I can assume that around 8k out of those 11k were waiting on Splatoon to come out to buy a WiiU and also got MK8, bundled or not.

Anyway, don't read too much into my previous comment. I was half joking. The bump the WiiU got with Splatoon is hardly what I'd call a system seller. As far as it concerns me, a system seller needs to bump a console's sales for like 10 times. :D
