Grave of the fireflies.

Have you watched The Tale of Princess Kaguya by chance? It's made by the same director as Grave of the Fireflies. And if you can, can you tell me which one is more depressing or how Fireflies' sadness differs from Kaguya? I believe Fireflies takes place during a war? I haven't seen the film yet, so please don't spoil it if you can!

Actually a majority of the film takes place just after the end of World War II but it does show one of the fire bombings by American planes of Tokyo.  Its a lot sadder and depressing then Princess Monoke since some of the event in it really took place and its based on real live experience of the author who wrote the short story its based on.

I was comparing it to Princess Kaguya

Mononoke was sad, but the reason for its sadness is something I've encountered in movies before. I honestly felt more sad at one point in Totoro than Mononoke lol
