There were only three possible successor to myazaki, being his son (which happend to not be great), Mamoru Hosoda (Digimon creator and director of Wolf Children Ame and Yuki/Summer Wars) and Makoto Shinkai (specialized in shorts/medium films, 5cm per second/The garden of words).
At this point the last news I heard from them is that they were working on a anime series (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/japans-studio-ghibli-produce-first-676598). Which means they are ruined and desperate.
Forgot to say which was their best movies : The wind Rises. |
Dang this is quite depressing time be a Ghibli fan. Still I hope the anime TV show turns out okay...
I haven't seen the Wind Rises yet but I'm planning to soon! I've only seen 8 Ghibli films so far plus Nausicaa and the Lupin film but those two films weren't made in Ghibli.
