If someone has a large library of Wii U games, they're getting an NX regardless of whether its BC or not. They're a Nintendo fan. Nintendo has always been tied to logistics, either because the hardware is very similar (gamecube/wii) or because they want to capitalise on a big userbase (wii) Wii U doesn't have the broad userbase and I hope for nintendo's sake that NX doesn't resemble wii U in hardware
In regard to the price $299 is not much money to pour into hardware and I don't think the core market have any issue with a $399 pricetag and price will of course fall overtime. If I was Nintnedo I would do as much as I could with $399 otherwise we probably won't be seeing a big difference between NX and PS4 in 2017, just a small one.

Its still better to than not. Something I dont like about the XB1 is no backwards compatibility, this is something only nintendo offers.
