I picked up a lot of English in my early years by watching cartoons on the BBC (dutch tv sucked back then)
My kids were picking up all kinds of Spanish from Dora and Diego. Yet it fades again now they've grown out of those shows.
It does help, yet you have to turn the subtitles off. Better even to have the subtitles in the language you're trying to learn.
We watched the Island, new survival show, part funny, part toe cringing.
And I saw the raft, another one, 2 people on a raft for 6 days.
