Love the thread idea and the positivity.

One of the main reasons I love video games is because they combine the best parts of reading a good book and watching a good movie. You can get the cinematic experience of a movie combined with the depth of a book. And you take an active role - the video game won't keep playing unless you advance the game. So for me, it makes it more rewarding than watching a movie where you're more of a passive observer.

Story/plot is one of the most important parts of playing a game to me and it what's drives me forward in games. I need that sense of adventure for the game to be memorable. It's why I love games like Zelda or Bioshock.

I love the escape it provides. Life is full of responsibility, challenge, stress and heartache. It's great to have a hobby where you can lose yourself in a fantasy world for awhile. You can be a hero who saves the princess or whatever even if you didn't feel like a hero at work that day.

I love being part of a community of gamers as well. The fact that we can get online and discuss games, or that I can link up with other people and play our favorite games together, especially those who live far away. The bonding aspect is awesome.

And just pure entertainment and fun factor. I love books, movies, music, art, etc. but no entertainment medium has given me as much long-term enjoyment as video games, especially for the price of admission.

I think we're very fortunate to live in an age where we have access to a virtually infinite amount of games to play. It's such a great medium to have as a hobby and has advanced so far in 20 or 30 years.

Great job on the thread again. One of the reasons I joined VGC (I'm a member of many other gaming sites, but this is the only one I'm truly active on or care about) was the camraderie, connectivity and cohesiveness of this group. I'd lurked for years before joining and observed that this site is more of a "family" than many others. Much more positivity and good discussion; less bs, trolling and flaming. Threads like this remind me of why I joined and continue to love the site.

It'll be awhile before I figure out how to do one of these. :P
