I want her playable because, she's been doing the same thing over and over again. Never being a focus. That's all. It be like when you have a tv show character, for years not being apart of the drama. You want them to help out. Take General Hammond in Stargate SG1. He's normally behind his desk, 99% of the time. But a few times in the series. He was able to be a action hero. That was great. Or take Stewart in Big Bang Theory.
Also, it would help with more personal back story creation. Her father and the Hyrule castle could be in focus. Impa can get to "talk", Etc. Who says replace Link? Do something like GTA V. Or Resident Evil. Have their stories run at the same time. And require sections of the game, to use the characters. Say you have 6 deoguns and some disater is coming up fast. Zelda clears 3. Link clears 3. Then they fight Gannon at the end. Using Zelda's Magic powers. And her Sheilk persona.
