Here are some of mine (Editing in examples/elaboration):
Grand Theft Auto is overrated
It is possible to dislike the Souls series of games for reasons other than "difficulty" (Example: The general response to someone saying "I don't like because " is "git gud, you would like it if you knew how to game")
FFVI > FFVII. Better protagonists, better put together story. I feel like FFVII gets most of its praise because "oh look Sephiroth is cool"
Many RPGS > FFVII
In fact, FFVII isn't actually that good
Games made with the intent of being linear can still be good, even in the "must have open world" state of gaming that exists today.
The Last of Us is not the best game of Gen7. For me that distinction belongs to Bioshock.
Mass Effect 3's ending was perfectly fine the first time. The whole game was the end of the trilogy, the fact that it wasn't a 45 minute cinematic that held your hand through what happened to each individual was the devs choice to leave it open ended. The gaming population needs an open world game but can't handle a rather open ended ending? Pssh.
