The Wii U would have to get just the perfect new games and come in at a new price that causes a complete turnaround and a massive surge in the install base. That's the only way I can see this happening. I know a handful of people with Wii U's and all of them have Smash Bros., and none of them are interested in Splatoon, so I don't think it will sell anything close to Smash.
