1) No, it's not the first time, at all. The ps2 had nothing the first year except fantavisionand SSX, while the dreamcast had LOT of great games, and ps2 still sold like crazy.
+ Wii was the best 7th gen selling console...And you really can't say she had the best games, or a large variety.
2) I disagree with you. You overestimate Xboxone games a lot. Both the ps4 and Xboxone had pretty much...nothing during the first year.
The first game who is really worth something on both systems is bloodborne actually.
the WiiU has great games yeah, but...not multiplat...and that's why most of normal players buy a console.
