I don't think all of this is directed at me, but I shall respond nonetheless, particularly to the last paragraph.

Its one thing to believe that the the Xbox One and WiiU do not have better line ups than the PS4. But to believe the PS4 has such a wonderful line up or library as to warrant this sort of lead? Please.

Frankly I think this generation is one great example of just how effective good (and bad) PR teams are at impacting their company's lot in the market. So much of Sony's lead is wrapped up in what is now a very dated notion that Microsoft's customers are going to be worse off than Sony's. That notion has been created and maintained by Sony's marketing masterstrokes, and Microsoft's marketing failures.

Almost none of it is directed at you, except for arguing your titular statement that Microsoft is making a turnaround based on importance of games.

Because that is what I find contradictory, as I and several others have pointed out - PS4 has more games and a wider variety of games. I do not wish to turn this thread into a list war, but it is esentially what you are inviting...

To select a specific time period, and to select a specific sub-sector of games in that time period to try to argue that MS stresses importance of games is a bit counter-productive. To say that Japanese games are inconsequential or that indies do not count (not you specifically, but the general tone of the debate), and then to say that there is no difference in the sizes and choices within libraries is a bit selective (for lack of better word).

But you are basically trying to assign all of PS4's success on marketing , specifically in MS's PR blunders, which is not really true. The truth is that people have different tastes, and that tastes vary both demographically and geographically. And that PS4's library offers something for every specific market segment. Sometimes it's a great game, sometimes it's a bad game, sometimes it's a blockbuster and sometimes it's an artistic money-loser.

The way I see it (and I certainly don't want this to sound or look insulting or derogatory): Microsoft sees gaming through a US-centered "industry perspective" in which all that matters is to release a few blockbusters, while Sony tries to balance that segment (which is necessary no doubt) with an artistic offering aimed at few niche users at a time. Same as I see the movie industry today - an industry that almost completely shied away from anything that cannot double the profit over the first weekend (aka superheroes and teen romances), but still offering a few works of love that will keep small arthouse cinemas in business.

And as I said to you privately, I am done with bringing up the past, 2 years of holding a grudge against MS for ruining XBox for me is enough, and this is not an extension of that. It is simply a reaction to your title: Because it basically implies that PS4 is lacking in the games department. Just trying to argue the opposite.
