In other words, you are trying to make us understand a point that you don't actually understand yourself. You are assuming that they are commending the lack of effort (no upgrades but the controls), when they are commending games that were good then, being played a new way now, as opposed to games that are just slapped together.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
