A dry 2015? Looking at the current slate of releases, I'm not thinking that's the case. A dry summer, however, is a different story. Although that can be said every year for any console, really. 

I think the reason they're advertising it so much is because it's the first real new IP to be brought out of EAD since Pikmin in 2001. They also probably know that the shooter genre is something sorely missing from their lineup, and that their most successful games involve online multiplayer (the irony), and thus, they came to the realization that they need to advertise the shit out of it. :P

I cant think of anything at the moment besides Mario Maker and XCX at the moment. But don't list anything to me because this is just a tired me talking, I'll remember all the titles tomorrow XD so thats why I say dry 2015, even if I'm wrong. 

Is Splatoon from EAD? I had no idea o.o I thought they just got a random team to make it
