I find the notion that the PS3s 2013 lineup of games outside of maybe TLOU has anything to do with the PS4s success naive at best and completely ignoring what is actually going on in the world at worst.

I think you are slightly misunderstanding. The lineup didnt somehow randomly help the PS4 to sell. It helped create an idea that the PS4 would be a console that will be supported. The fact that the PS3 could get so many titles in the PS4 launch year (ranging from established IPs to new IPs) reflects well on the PS4 in terms of how it will be supported in years to come. Perhaps that would have been a better way of wording it.

Besides that, your premise is still wrong. PS4 didnt need any of those games. Sony supporting PS3 users with more great content + the PS4 selling so well is ultimately the win-win Sony would have wanted. Its also the reality of the situation.

My premise never was that the PS4 would have necessary needed those games but that those games would have done better on PS4 AND that they would have helped combat the notion that the "PS4 has no games", cause that "idea that the PS4 would be a console that will be supported" is now being eroded again by the poor first party support that the PS4 has gotten until now and is looking to get until the end of the year. Besides I made it pretty clear that not all of those 2013 PS3 games should have gone over exclusively to the PS4, TLOU, MLB, Beyond, crossgen GT, third party Ni No Kuni and maybe Sly (I really haven't thought much about that game, could have done with the PS4 treatment as well possibly) would have easily gotten the message of continued PS support across.
