Metroid, on the other hand; would work well as a film, and is a franchise that isn't huge in popular perception, so a film would make a lot of sense as a way of increasing knowledge of the brand. It's also a sort of film that hollywood knows how to makes; Pandorum, Prometheus, Event Horizon all have that sense of exploration that makes Metroid what it is.

I always thought Metroid could make for an awesome movie, but it would be too hard to really capture the feel of it. Thankfully watching Fury Road a few days ago made me realize it would actually be possible to make it good.

I'm not saying Metroid should go all Mad Max like, but Fury Road did have a direction and feel that could work with Metroid. Lots of action, not a lot of talking (relatively silent protagonist), but still managing to tell a hell of a powerful story while at it.

I've not seen Fury Road yet (need to wait for my sister to finish uni so she can come baby sit for an evening), but I see Metroid working similar to Pandorum (I highly recommend watching that film if you haven't); spooky sci fi horror, with a slowly developing plot.
