THEORY: Nintendo dropping backwards compatibility for the NX

Why do people want wiimotes and the gamepad gone? Surely having options for controllers isn't a bad thing and it's not like it would be hard or time consuming to simply chuck in code for button recognition. Seems really selfish to me
